Cincinnati Winter Beerfest: Feb 10-11th

I received a phone call from Chris (I believe the president) of the Cincinnati Malt Infusers.  Cincinnati Beer Week is from February 2-9 ending with the Cincinnati Winter Beerfest at the Duke Energy convention center on the 10th and 11th starting at 6:00pm.

They have asked if DRAFT would like to have a table down there to advertise DRAFT, sell T-shirts, hats, etc… and possibly display home-brewing equipment.

Chris mentioned that many people from the Dayton area come to this event and he would like to see us represented.We can have up to three people (who get in for free) at this table and they will be free to sample while they “work”.  We can also volunteer to pour at other tables if anyone has that desire.  I am certain that we would have to be on site no later than 5:30 each day to be ready for the 6:00 opening of the doors.  There is an arrangement with the Hyatt Regency for discount rate rooms if you mention the winter beerfest.  Is anyone interested?

Dayton Art Institue Oktoberfest

Dayton DRAFT showing off in Dayton once again! Fresh off his wins at Brewfest Jeffery McElfresh placed his Irving Berliner, Berliner Weisse, in the German Beers category, and his American Brown Ale took 2nd in the American Ales category. Not to be outdone Wes Barron also placed with a Berlisner Weisse, and his IPA placed 2nd. Brent Osborn was 1 of 4 winners in the label contest for Oh-hi Cherry Oh and also received an honorable mention for Up Yours!
Save the date Sat. Sept 24 to attend the Dayton Art Institute’s Oktoberfest and awards ceremony.

Brewfest 2011 the hangover

Brewfest 2011 has come and gone.  A Big HUGE thank you to ALL of our sponsors!  Without you guys this event could not happen and we appreciate it.  If you are looking for something to do around Dayton, give our sponsors list a quick look for help in your decision.

See competition results here, take note how many BN Army club members took medals.

It has not been said enough so a huge THANK YOU also goes out to Darren Link for his stellar work as Competition Coordinator this year!  Darren the hard work you do shows in how smooth and professional all our competitions were this year!  CHEERS!  In addition, our cellar master Tom Morgan was pro!  Tom handled each and every beer like it was his own, although he could have dropped one or two of Jefferey’s.

Thank you to all those who participated! Our final count for 2011 was 214 beers from all around the Midwest.

Out of town participants, plaques & medals will be mailed to the appropriate addresses provided. Judging registration will remain OPEN and we are looking for as much help as possible. If you aren’t comfortable judging but are interested in beer, consider Stewarding. It is an awesome opportunity to become familiar with the process.
